Field Day 2007 - we went BACK TO THE FIELDS !
Our attendance on the field was the highest in y-e-a-r-s...over 61 (and some forgot to sign) and...
We had a visit by the Town of LaFayette Supervisor - Greg Scammell - v-e-r-y impressed with our operation

For 2007 we had operators, workers, and others 'actually participating' from the ages of 12 to 90. Some were licensed, some were not, and they showed a sincere interest in getting their license.
Beautiful Weather - Beautiful Site at Hillcrest,in LaFayette, which we thank our RAGS member Bill Pomeroy, WA2LEY, for offering as his part in Field Day. Three generators purred away over the weekend using 20 1/2 gallons of gas keeping the 4 stations in operation.
With no trees in this particular spot - - what to do about antennas - - erect extension ladders - use long poles - try something new - - and "they did!"
Four regular meals were available on site with night snacks and goodies, fuel for those working 'overnight'

It was fun and a good time seemed to be had by all who attended.

What CAN the Chairman, Rick Whitford, KC2USA, come up with next year to top this - - Doesn't seem possible - but, He Will!

+ . o . + . o . +

Field Day 2006 had 32 visitors and/or workers Pete Alberti, Director of the Onondaga County Emergency Management Office stopped by - contacted a station in the mid-west

Final results recorded 2220 points with 504 contacts made on CW and phone

Good weather prevailed

Our SUNDAY Special !

We're on site around 11:30-noon - getting the fires ready -- we ALL EAT TOGETHER at 1 p.m. - - then hang around with a few games and eyeball QSOs until 3-4 p.m.
Just a relaxed day for all

Bring a dish to share - - with your personal picnic basket of your meat, beverage, table service and whatever other goodies your family enjoys.

Come and watch the 'men' master the grills

RAGS annual picnic will be held on Sunday August 19, 2007. This is open to Ham members, family and their friends.

We're at the same park John Storesburg, WA2U, has used for many years for the SWL/Scanner picnic. Clay Central Park is on Wetzel Road,(near the intersection of Wetzel and Henry Clay Blvd.) between Buckley Road and Route 57. The pavalion is the one behind the "Y" building.

We have a reserved "free" pavilion, (the price is right!) tables, a couple of fire tables and lots of grassy area. Swings, for the kiddies. Plenty of parking near the pavilion. After our tasty lunch we have a few games --- just for fun ---nothing taxing. Come out for this "FUN" event.
We gather about 11:30 a.m. until 3 - 4 o'clock. The club furnishes fire for cooking and roasted corn. Everyone sits down together at 1 p.m. for our picnic feast. This park is located in a beautiful setting, and we have use of a pavilion.

Call another ham family --- pack your picnic basket with whatever goodies your family wants; your personal favorite meat; table service; don't forget your drink; then add a dish to share -- head for Clay. It's easy to find. Parking is right by the pavilion. This is a relaxing afternoon for all. Take a walk, toss a ball, sit and chat...just come and enjoy.... Lots of grass, play gyms for the kiddies, room to play ball... What more could you need.
